Yes, you are right, it is  very  difficult  to  describe  a  person of the level and reputation  of Gyani  Makhan Singh “Mirgind”, who captured great name  and  fame, both in  Bhat  Sikh  Sangat  as well  as in the Punjabi  literary  circle. He was  undoubtedly a  multitalented  personality  who  shot into great  prominence for  his worth-mentioning  qualities. Born on 15th  of October, 1915 at village  DASKA  in district  SIALKOT ( now  in Pakistan), he  finished  his  early    education in a  local  Gurduwara and  continued  showing  keen  interest  in  further  studies.  He  was  always  helpful  to  his  parents  for  increasing  the  financial  level  of  the  family. To him, education  was  like  an asset  to every human life.  Besides,  he had a great  passion  for  learning and wanted  to  adopt  teaching  as his  profession. Inspite of having busy schedule of various activities, he managed  to  qualify  GYANI  EXAMINATION  from  Punjab  University, Lahore  and  continued   teaching  students  upto Gyani level.Mirgind  Sahib  was  very  active  in terms  of  understanding  the root cause  of  various  problems  our  community  was  confronted  with. For  this  purpose,he used to hold  group discussions, listen elders  views   and workout  suitable  plans  with  like  minded  community-men..   It  was  the  result  of  such strategy that SRI GURU NANAK NAUJWAN BHAT  SABHA  came  into being, thanks  to  the active  members  like  Dr. Harnam Singh  Talib, Vaid  Gurcharan  Singh,  Kartar  Singh Kanwal,Chooni  Singh  and  Sardar  Ajit  Singh.  The  aforesaid  newly  formed  body  resolved   to  work  for the  unity  and  integrity  of  the  Bhat Sikh  Sangat  and to  trace out the  history  of the community.  It  was also  during  this  time  that  it  was  strongly  resolved  to  make  best  efforts  to  get  deleted  the objectionable  words  used  against the background  of our  community  in  the MAHAAN  KOSH compiled  by Bhai  Kahn  Singh  Nabha. In the year 1940, in  response  to  the  great need  felt  by  the  community, a  community  magazine  known  as”SANGAT RASALA” was  published from Layalpur for projecting  greivances  of  our  community  for  suitable  solutions  as also  for  generating  awareness  amongst  our  younger  generation.   Formation  of SARAB  HIND BHATRA  UNION, took  place in the  following  year i.e.  1941  which  indeed   was yet another  good  step  in the  right  direction. Gyani  ji  reached  United  Kingdom with  family in  July, 1957 where  he settled  down  finally.   It  was  for  many  years  he    had to struggle  for a comfortable living,  considering  his  kind  of  academic  qualification  and  work  experience. But  then,  he never  let down  the  great  convictions  and  attachment  he  always had with  the  Bhat  Sikh  Sangat  as also for his  untiring  and  never  failing  love  for  the Punjabi Literature.  The  International  Punjabi  Sehat  Sabha,  always  gave  him  the respect and  recognition he  richly  and  truely  deserved  and    regarded  him  as  being a valuable  asset  of  the  Intl.  Punajbi  Sehat  Sabha,  of  which, he served  as  its President  and   later became its  PATRON. In December, 1967,  he  paid  a  historic  visit  to  India to  deliver his  Presidential Address  at the ALL INDIA SANGAT BHATRA CONVENTION, held ar FATEHGARH SAHIB in PUNJAB, regarding  the  contents  of the  Historic  Memorandum,  for approval  of  Bhat  Sikh  Sangat. The  success  of  MAHANKOSH  ANDOLAN  speaks  very highly  and  proudly  about  his laudable  hold  on  the  subject. He  was truely  a multi-talented  personality :  a writer, a  good  researcher,  a  well known  teacher, a poet,, a  journalist, a good  speaker,a  most  dedicated  and  untiring  worker  and  a   beloved  leader  of  the  community.   Bhat  Sikh  Sangat  will  always  remember  his  great  and  most  valuable   writings and research work, the titles thereof are precisely    mentioned  below :-
